Facilitec and Office Interiors served as consultants and procurement agents for the $6.7 million renovation of 6 campuses for the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health. Serving Savannah, Columbus, Augusta, Milledgeville and Atlanta logistically isn’t a simple task.
The process for renovating behavioral health facilities is extremely comprehensive and extensive due to the state of the individuals. Not only does the furniture have to be strong enough but also comfortable enough to the patients’ liking, but the actual installation with transferring of the patients is a challenge.
After an expansive planning and budgeting procedure which included 60 people reviewing 4 manufacturers, the execution began. The patients were relocated to another facility for three days until furniture removal, floor renovations, painting and new furniture installation were complete. We removed 45 truckloads of furniture which were then dispersed to lower income areas to be reused. It was replaced with Norix furniture due to its specialized characteristics for these types of hospitals.
